Please note this is NOT a foundation-paper piecing pattern.
EXPERTISE LEVEL: CONFIDENT BEGINNER to INTERMEDIATE . The beautiful pattern includes gentle curves, with tips on how to handle them!
This innovative arrangement of the traditional Winding Ways block in a circlequilt block pattern was designed as BLOCK 15 of Dreamcatcher Dusk Round the Year Quilt. The finished size of the block is 18" square. If you prefer to construct only the winding ways wheel, that finishes at 15" (diameter).
The block looks difficult, but the curves are really gentle and if you cut accurately, and pin carefully, it is a breeze to piece! Like all other blocks of the Dreamcatcher Quilt, this is also a versatile, stand-alone pattern. You may use this pattern to make a cushion cover or a table / bed runner, if not using it for the quilt.
Please note that this is a digital purchase and you will receive only a link to download the .PDF files on your computer/device. No paper pattern/ actual quilt/ fabric/ merchandise is being offered here. Purchases of all digital downloads are non-refundable.
You will receive the following file:
MADSPATCH WINDING WAYS WHEEL INSTRUCTIONS and TEMPLATES for the DUSK DREAMCATCHER :Templates and instructions for piecing and assembly of the block.. I advice you to print the pattern on freezer paper or glue it to a cardboard/ template sheet and cut out stencils for cutting your pieces. If you are using your own colour-way, you may check how your block will look in your colours in the Master Template included here.
All patterns are for the personal use of the buyer only. Please do not share with others or use for teaching/ workshops etc without my prior permission!

The Back Story: This was the last but one block of the16-block Round the Year Block of the Month Quilt. I was in two minds whether to include this beautiful traditional pieced block in this quilt, where all the other blocks are majorly paper pieced. I held a poll on my blog and this won! I couldn't be happier!
I first made up this block when I was quite new to quilting, using the winding ways block. I drafted it using a great tutorial by Kathy Somers. Partly pieced by hand and partly by machine, my mini-block had finished at 4.5" including the seams!
Later I went on to include it in Saptapadi my award-winning quilt.
Happy Quilting!
